New Design System
and Global Features

I created a new design system from the ground up, including a style guide, component library, and UI patterns, to support our technology refresh and deliver a seamless, modern user experience.

As part of the new system, I led the redesign of our global navigation to enhance usability and provide a more intuitive browsing and support experience.

Problem

Our existing front end was outdated, not responsive and lacked the flexibility to support faster innovation cycles. The UI failed to deliver a consistent, modern and intuitive experience for an evolving customer base, slowing down development and release processes.

When I joined Constant Contact, the visual design lacked cohesion, intentional color usage, modern aesthetics, and well-documented patterns.

I did a full system and visual redesign, maintaining the core brand elements, to define a semantic color token system, improved component usability, and unified the library to create a more polished and consistent user experience.

Navigation Restructure

Our product’s longstanding top navigation limited usability, making it difficult for users to quickly understand their location within the product or discover other features.

To address this, we conducted extensive user research, including open and closed card sorting and user testing, to design a new left navigation with expand-and-collapse functionality. Launched in August, this redesign significantly improved navigation and feature visibility for users.
